Free Agent Players
HITFAIR maintains a free agent player pool for access by team managers who may be assembling a team in a certain geographical area, or who may be looking for one or two specialty players, such as a pitcher, a catcher, a home run slugger, or player in a certain age category.
Sponsorship of a team is $100,000. Like everything, buying individual units is more expensive than purchasing them by the dozen (or by the 20's, in the case of a HITFAIR team). For self-sponsored free agents, a modest administrative surcharge brings the total to $5,300
* (before the minimum $100 rebate) per player.
The initial deposit of $20 (made upon applying for a free-agent ID#) is applied
to the player's fee with an additional $2,000 due within 7 days upon acceptance
by a team in the draft. Any remaining amounts are due 14 days from that date,
but no later than 7 days prior to the beginning of the tournament. Execpt for the $20 registration fee,
free-agent deposits are refundable (less 3% credit card processing) to players not selected in the draft.
* Sponsorship fees are predicated on a $1,200 travel cost allocation per participant. Depending on the team's date of financial commitment and available air fares, players and/or sponsors should be prepared to pay additional amounts for travel costs and/or fuel surcharges beyond the budgeted per-person figure. Air fare premiums, if necessitated, will be made at cost without any markup by HITFAIR, LLC, and will not be included in the rebate calculation of the HITFAIR formula. This policy allows international participation and accommodates teams originating from smaller cities' airports.
Remember when performing all calculatons that the two-sevenths of the gross amounts collected by the HITFAIR tournament administrators is rebated back to the participants.
That's an average rebate of almost $1,400 per player!Free agent players are encouraged to register as early as possible. The HITFAIR tournament is being promoted nationally, and there are only 140 player positions in the entire tournament, most of which will be taken by players already affiliated with a team.
Once seven teams have paid their fees, that particular tournament is sold out. Free-agent deposits are rolled over to a future tournament at full 100% value for players not selected in any particular draft. At the free-agent player's option, deposits made directly by that player are refundable, net of a 3% charge (the credit card processing fee).
Becoming a HITFAIR free agent player is a two-step process: (1) submitting your contact and player information, and (2) remitting the $20 registration fee via a secured-transactions web page.
